is
one of the outstanding yacht
Clubs on Florida's West Coast, and its story is closely linked
with the history of Sarasota. The Bird Key Yacht Club was
organized for the purpose of promoting boating and social
enjoyment.
While there are many wonderful clubs in Sarasota, BKYC has some very special features in a package that no other
Club can equal. BKYC offers
formal and casual dining to rival the best restaurants
in Sarasota. Lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch are served
in several venues that all have stunning views of
Sarasota Bay and the Sarasota skyline.
The Club is
ideally located only minutes from St. Armand's Circle
and Lido Beach in one direction, and downtown Sarasota
in another. It has a friendly, family atmosphere, but
neither boating nor dining is its sole focus. Its
purpose remains as it was at inception: to provide a
unique social, dining and recreational experience for
its members and friends.
Some members join the Club for
the social events, parties, tennis, golf, bridge, art
exhibits, excursions or the wide variety of other
activities. Others join for the "dining club" and a
beautiful place to entertain their friends and keep
their boats. Still other enjoy the formal black tie
events.
One universal goal sets our Club apart from
any other...BKYC is committed to welcoming newcomers and
to preserving the warm and comfortable ambience that
makes it truly a home away from home for all members.

Joining Bird Key Yacht Club gives you the opportunity
to participate in the numerous activities available here; it also allows
you to experience the facilities of other clubs. Our members may visit
Sarasota Yacht Club and the Field Club on Tuesdays when our Club is
closed, or any day of the week by boat. The University Club is
also open to members on Tuesdays when our Club is closed. In addition,
our members have special reciprocal privileges at Laurel Oak Country
Club for dining, tennis and golf.
Bird Key Yacht Club was one of the
original thirteen members of the Florida Council of Yacht Clubs (FCYC).
Today more than thirty clubs on both coasts, the Florida Keys and the
Florida Panhandle are members of FCYC. Bird Key members may visit
any other member club, have a berth with the first night's dockage free,
and have all charges for any club activities billed through Bird Key
Yacht Club. Members may visit FCYC clubs either by boat or car.
